What are Black Currants?

If you haven’t heard of Black Currant, you aren’t alone. Black Currant was banned in 1911 and forbidden to grow in the United States until 2003 because the bush had the potential to carry a fungus that could adversely affect the Pine logging industry. Importing Black Currants from Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, and other EU countries is still not allowed, and still, to this day, some states still have a ban on this delicious berry. Luckily for us, we have sourced the best Black Currants in the USA and infused our Whiskey Blend with it!

Black Currant Berries, also known as cassis, come from a shrub in the family Grossulariaceae, which produces edible berries that we know as Black Currants.
